Our Story
Every great journey begins with a single step. Ours began on a mountain trail.
In 2022, after completing a trek through the beautiful landscapes of Manaslu, Samikshya Bajagain, Director and Travel Guide, and Sanjib Chimouriya, Operations Manager and Travel Guide, were descending from Bimthang to Dharapani.
As they walked through rugged trails, mountain villages, and peaceful Himalayan scenery, a conversation began that would later become the foundation of Joyful Eco Treks.
Having spent years working as trekking guides, Samikshya and Sanjib had seen Nepal’s tourism industry closely. They understood both its beauty and its challenges. Many travelers came to Nepal looking for real connections, local stories, and meaningful adventures, yet many trips felt too fixed, rushed, or impersonal.
They believed travel should feel different. Every traveler has a different reason for coming to Nepal, and every journey should reflect that. For them, a trip was not only about reaching a destination. It was about meeting people, understanding local life, respecting nature, and creating memories that stay long after the journey ends.
After returning to Kathmandu, Sanjib and Samikshya shared their idea with their mentor and future co-founder, Rajnita Bhetwal. With strong management experience, years of working with international guests, and travel experience across many countries, Rajnita brought a wider view of what modern travelers expect.
She understood the need for reliable service, comfort, clear communication, and well-managed travel experiences. Together, they combined local trekking knowledge, cultural understanding, and professional planning to build Joyful Eco Treks.
What started as a conversation on the trail between Bimthang and Dharapani soon became a shared mission: to help travelers experience Nepal through local eyes, genuine connections, and carefully planned journeys.
